Jacqui

Jacqui is a mother of three small children and stays at home with them. She works hard to meet her children wherever they are in the moment and in each stage of life. She finds value in everything around her. Her body created tiny humans. It has helped her nurture gardens and chickens. It has supported her running after her little ones. It has taught her how to find herself during Yin yoga (of which she is a teacher). She wanted to celebrate that in this session with us. Jacqui’s connection with nature, cycles, and her internal world informed the sets we used in her session.

Jacqui is soulful and kind. It was an honor to document her in the comfort of her family’s space. Everything she owns is loved and lived in, including her body. Her family always has a safe place with her, and she wanted to document her own safe space inside and out.

We met Jacqui in her home and photographed her session in her yurt. She was nervous but open. We started with her sweater and photographed her while talking and looking out onto her land. As we moved through her space, she fell into a comfortability with us, and the session was a laidback meeting of minds. The jewelry we highlighted was made by a good friend of Jacqui’s. The book she is reading is a book she had been using to rethink her connection to nature. The sense of life was found all around the yurt with tea, books for her kids, and found natural objects placed throughout. Jacqui has a natural sincerity that comes through her gaze. And though we rarely have our clients break the fourth wall, at least a couple ended up in our final selections. This session felt like coming home, but to a safe, and reassuring home that many would find to be more of a shangrila.
