When I met Kayla, she told me that she had gone through many different journeys with her body: as a dancer and gymnast, as a canvas for others to approve, as artistic expression. She started investing at a young age, and now she owns her own corner of the world that she rules along with her pets. She told me that with doing this shoot, she wanted to “grant permission and freedom to others to live their lives.” She is adventurous and carefree: generous and lovely.
Kayla’s session was delightful. We were able to photograph her in her historical home in Denver. It was the best version of old with beautiful moldings, a baby grand piano, and original brick. Kayla was welcoming and open-hearted. She wanted to do anything to make this session easy on us, so we spent time here and there reminding her that that was not her job. We meandered into different rooms that told different stories. She was easy-going and laughed easily. We were accompanied at every turn by her sweet dog. By the end, we all felt like old friends.
